Named for the town near [Caprock Canyons State Park][1] in Texas (Pronounced “kitty-quay”) because I noticed that my tee looked like the [red sandstone with satin spar gypsum bands][2] that we saw while hiking there this spring. This fully customizable summer top is an easy, low-key knit. Worked in the round to the arms from the bottom up, the upper front and back are knit separately and then 3-needle bind-offs are used to join the shoulders. You pick the circumference and the length and then stripe (or not) as you please. Instructions are given to figure a yardage estimate when knit at the pattern gauge. You can work at a different gauge, but your yardage will not follow the given equation.

Long-tail cast-on
Knitting in the round

3-needle bind-off
**Materials**
Fingering- or sport-weight yarn in a linen, cotton, silk, or a blend works best (“bouncy” yarns like 100% wool will need an edge treatment at the bottom hem to control rolling)
US3/3.25mm circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Choose a length that is smaller than your desired circumference
Second set of the same size needles (any length cable) for holding half of the stitches and working the 3-needle bind-offs
Stitch markers
Measuring tape
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Pattern chat thread is [here][3] if you have questions or want to share photos!
*Sample was knit in Quince & Co. Sparrow in Penny with stripes in Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy in White Bread. Modeled with 2" of positive ease.*
