These socks are inspired by Igjarjuk, the great white ice dragon from Urmsheim in Osten Ard. With her, we discover the first pattern from my pattern series related to Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams, a fantasy series I love ever since I first read it in the early 1990s. You can see the scales of the dragon appearing on the sock and running down, and with the light beige you can imagine the age of Igjarjuk – once Simon and his party reach Urmsheim on the search for the sword Dorn, Igjarjuk was awaken and marks Simon with her blood – Simons red hair whitens at the spot the blood of the dragon touched him. Socks are worked top down with a heel flap. You will need about 250 - 350 m (270 - 380 yards) of fingering weight sock yarn (about 400m/440 yards per 100g), depending on your gauge and choosen size. Du kannst unschwer die Drachenschuppen erkennen, die auf diesem Socken herablaufen. Mit dem leichten Beigeton macht sich das Alter von Igjarjuk bemerkbar, denn nach jahrhundertelangem Schlaf erwacht der Drache, als Simon mit seinen Gefährten am Urmsheim ankommen, um das Schwert Dorn zu finden. Dabei zeichnet Igarjuk Simon mit seinem Blut und Simons Haar färbt sich an einer Strähne weiß. Die Socken werden von oben mit einer Fersenwand gearbeitet. Du benötigst etwa 250 - 350 m Sockengarn (etwa 400m/100g), abhängig von Deiner gewählten Größe und Maschenprobe. Außerdem brauchst Du Stricknadeln in 2,25mm, eine Schere, Vernähnadel, Zopfnadel (optional) sowie Maschenmarkierer.
