*Who doesn’t love a good bucket bag? They are utilitarian; just stuff them, cinch them, and GO! Mosaic crochet is used to create a dense fabric with fun patterning. We love a useful, sturdy bag--but make it pretty.*
Sample pictured was made with MC Brown Sheep Prairie Spun DK in Wild Indigo and CC Cascade 220 Superwash Wave in Spring.
Gauge (unblocked mosaic): 19 sts in 4” (10cm), 18 rows (9dc sts tall, since sc sts are covered) in 4” (10cm) yields a 22.75” (57cm) circumference bag, bottom center to top when laid flat is approximately 15” (37.5cm).
A note on gauge, bag size, and modifications:
Gauge is flexible. Changing your hook size is the easiest way to change the bag size.
* A smaller hook will give you a smaller
bag with denser fabric that could
stand open more like a basket.
* A bigger hook will make a bigger bag
with a softer/floppier look. Mosaic
fabric can be dense, but take care not
to go too loose unless you are willing
to line the bag.
If you go larger than suggested gauge, you may need additional skeins.
Sample used approximately 231 yds (90 g) of MC Prairie Spun DK and 205 yds (93 g) of CC 220 Superwash Wave before making the drawstring. More than enough was left for the drawstring.
