A little retro, and very eye-catching! Intarsia was a natural choice of technique for a big graphic design, and is easiest with the front panel as a separate piece. The embroidery embellishment was superfun, and surprisingly easy (templates are included in the pattern). The provisional cast-on allows for tailoring the length at the end. The sleeve stitches are picked up at the shoulder and knit top-down, in the round. Include the cozy turtleneck or make a crew neck. This design is similar to my On Balance, with all st counts adjusted for the gauge of a different yarn. **Sizes** 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10) correspond to garment chest measurements: 40¾ (43½, 46, 51) [53¾, 58¾, 61¼] {66½, 69, 71½} inches/ 104 (110.5, 117, 129.5) [136, 149, 155.5] {168.5, 175, 181.5} cm I recommend about 10 inches/ 25.5 cm of positive ease. **Recommended yarn** Main Color: Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn Highland DK and Silk and Mohair held together. THIS YARN IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE, but any similar DK + silk mohair will work * Highland DK - 100% wool, 246 yds/ 225 m per 3.53 oz/ 100 g; pale grey sample in Driftwood and charcoal grey sample in Melancholy Oysterboy; 5 (5, 6, 6) [6, 7, 7] {8, 8, 8} skeins * Silk and Mohair - 72% Superfine Kid Mohair/ 28% Silk, 455 yds/ 416 m per 1.7 oz/ 50 g; 3 (3, 3, 3) (4, 4, 4) (4, 5, 5) skeins OR Any worsted weight yarns that yield the design gauge can be used without holding two yarns together. Colorway of flower on sample - pale grey sample uses You Ate All the Raspberry Jam, and charcoal grey sample uses Icelandic Poppy, in Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn Highland DK + silk-mohair * The center of the flower and small motif on the back require up to 21 yds/ 18 m total. Colorway You're Golden (pale grey sample) and Longbourn Green (charcoal sample), in Keenan Hand Dyed Yarn Highland DK + silk-mohair * Embroidered embellishment front and back required 11 yds/ 10 m of colorway Melancholy Oysterboy (black-ish) * Motif yarn should be same yarn weight and type as MC (all non-superwash or all superwash).
