When my friends, Kim and Mary, reached out to collaborate on a special pattern, I dropped everything and said YES! Kim dyes yarn under the name Moss & Fern Fiber Studio based in Portland, OR and Mary owns Snake + Skein, a local yarn shop in Elizabethtown, PA. We decided we wanted to create a piece that reminded us of the Pennsylvania woods, and Kim immediately dyed this gorgeous yarn. As soon as it was in my hands, I knew it wanted to be a lacy bandana cowl. The variegation is soft enough that you can still see the lace, and this super soft 100% Superwash Merino yarn had to be worn against the skin. “Sylvania” is derived from the Latin word meaning “forest” or “woods,” and translates to “place in the woods.” The perfect name for this sweet cowl! This all-over lace bandana cowl is worked seamlessly from the bottom point up. You’ll work flat, cast on stitches for the back neck, join, and finish in the round. A detailed photo tutorial is included for my special seamless I-Cord Tab Cast On. The instructions are both written and charted. This pattern is written for one skein of DK but will also work with a skein of worsted weight yarn! Yarn support was generously provided for the sample.
