Meet Odette, a shy little pygmy possum looking to brighten your day. These marsupials are unusual but adorable and act as important pollinators in the Australian bush. This crochet pattern brings her to life around 10cm high (using DK yarn and a 2.75 mm hook) with options for semi-poseable legs and arms, and includes instructions for her flower crown.
This **15 page pattern** includes **30 colour images** to guide you through each step. This pattern includes detailed colourwork and tight rounds, so won’t be the best start for absolute beginners.
**Key Details:**
**Size:** Approximately 10 cm tall when made with DK yarn and a 2.75 mm hook.
**Yarn & Hook:** Designed for DK weight yarn, but you can use another weight as long as it’s consistent. Gauge isn’t critical, but keep it tight. Example images use Classic 8PLY Wool from Bendigo Woollen Mills.
**Skill Level:** Intermediate to advanced due to the colourwork and tight rounds.
**Full Colour PDF:** 15 pages, written in US crochet terms
**Printer Friendly PDF Versions:** B&W option, as well as B&W with no images
**Materials:**
Yarn – The pattern is made for DK weight yarn, but being Amigurumi, gauge isn’t super important (as long as it’s tight), and you can easily switch it out for a different weight. Just make sure all the yarn used is the same weight and it should still work. I’ve used small bits of Classic & Woodlands 8PLY Wool from Bendigo Woollen Mills for my pygmy possum.
* Colour A: Cream for tummy and face
* Colour B: Darker cream/grey for back and arms
* Colour C: Dark grey for tail and ears
* Colour D: Green for the base of the flower crown
* Colour E: Flower colour for crown
* Small amounts of black and pink yarn for embroidering the eyes and nose
2.75mm crochet hook to keep the stitches nice and tight. Depending on your yarn you may need to go up or down sizes to match.
Stuffing
Sewing pins to keep things in place as you stitch them together (not absolutely necessary, but can help keep things from sliding around)
Stitch marker to keep track of rounds (I use an extra little piece of yarn)
Yarn needle (or smaller if you prefer to attach pieces with thread)
Scissors
