Easy Knit Ribbed Hat

**Free easy knit** ribbed hat pattern. 2 versions available: * [Knit in the round (seamless) for **circular needle** or DPNs][1] * [Knit flat (seamed down the back) for **straight needles**][2] Since the hat is all rib, it's very stretchy & should fit most adults. Samples fit both my small female head and a 6ft man. As a guide my finished hats post wash were nearly **10.5-11 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide** (unstretched). While suggested gauge is 27 stitches and 28 rounds to 4 inches in unstretched rib stitch, **exact stitch gauge is not important** as the hat is very stretchy and the vertical gauge does not matter as you knit to your desired length. Any **standard DK yarn** (22x28 stitches on 4mm) **or light worsted** yarn should work well. The **knit in the round version is reversible**, so can be worn turned up with a deep brim or turned down for a slouchy hat. Since the straight needles version is seamed, you need to decide whether you will mainly wear the hat turned up or down because the bottom of your seam will be visible on one side.
