Kleiner Scarf

The Kleiner scarf is an easy-to-knit stash-bustering project. This little item is perfect for spring, transition of seasons and slightly chilly nights. It has a hole at one end that allows you to wrap it up elegantly without tying it. The scarf reaches around the neck once. This design was inspired by the PERLA yarn from LAMANA in Germany; Kleiner means small in German. It is worked first in the Crossed stockinette stitch with increases, then the Woven horizontal herringbone pattern is worked using larger needle with decreases. Finally, the end is split into knitted to make a hole, then rejoined to be finished with decreases. **Size** one size **Finished Measurements** Width: 23 cm [9”] / Total length: 72 cm [28 ¼”] **Needles** 4 mm [US 6], 4.5 mm [US 7], and 3.5 mm [US 6] 40 cm [16”] circular or double-pointed needles **Gauge** 23 sts x 25 rows = 10 cm [4”] in Crossed stockinette stitch with 4 mm [US 6] needle (after wet blocking) 24 sts x 42 rows = 10 cm [4”] in Woven horizonal herringbone pattern with 4.5 mm [US 7] needle (after wet blocking) **Yarn** PERLA by LAMANA, color.46 Basalt Blue (114 m [125 yards] / 50 g) = 102 m [112 yards] 45 g / 1 ball **Notions** stitch holders or waste yarn and tapestry needle Technical Editing by [Naoko Ogawa][1] ([strands of life][2]) > This pattern has been technically > edited and test knitting.
