Make your own Wading Bird! This pattern gives detailed instructions to create three species of wading bird: White Stork, Scarlet Ibis, and Roseate Spoonbill. In addition, color suggestions and colorwork instructions are also given for a number of other Stork, Ibis and Spoonbill species.
The 94 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Stork, Ibis, or Spoonbill. PLUS there is a 36 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make a wading bird using worsted weight yarn.
Recommended for INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary).
A finished bird made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 24” long from bill to tail, 19” tall from head to toe and 7.5” wide at the widest point.
To make a Stork, Ibis, or Spoonbill you will need:
Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors, ~500 to 600 yards total
12mm safety eyes
Poly-fil or other stuffing
12- or 9-gauge armature wire (18-gauge floral wire can be used, but lengths must be doubled)
Duct tape
