Zmijovka socks

Zmijovka socks are inspired by a traditional Czech motive, a classic hat Zmijovka. The socks are knitted cuff-down with a simple and fun pattern and a reinforced heel. Thanks to its pattern they are unisex – women´s are knitted from a fingering yarn, man´s from DK yarn. Sizes (you can also achieve a different size by changing the gauge): 1 (2, 3, 4) Size 1(2) is ideal for usual man´s foot circumference 26 - 27 cm (29,5 – 30,5 cm) Size 3(4) is ideal for usual woman´s foot circumference 20 – 22 cm (22 – 24 cm) Yarn: For sizes 1(2): Vuonue Pentti or Novita 7 Veljestä or any other DK sock yarn; the total yardage is app. MC 205 – 220 m and CC 110 – 130 m For sizes 3(4): Novita Viola or Vuonue Wilhelmi or any other 4ply sock yarn Yardage: For knitting with DK yarn: MC 205-210 m, CC 110-130 m For knitting with fingering yarn: MC 200-230 m, CC 100-130 m Gauge (knitted in the round, according to the pattern, with bigger needles): For knitting with DK yarn: 23 sts and 27 rows per 10 cm For knitting with fingering yarn: 34 sts and 40 rows per 10 cm Needles: (the pattern is written for knitting with circular needles, with magic loop method, but you can knit also with DPNS if you prefer: For knitting with DK yarn: 3,25 mm for the cuff, 3,5 mm for the sock For knitting with fingering yarn: 2,25 mm for the cuff, 2,5 mm for the sock Other notions: 2 removable stitch markers, 1 regular stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, blocking tools if you wish
