> **Bundle and Save with [Wool & > Pine](https://www.ravelry.com/designers/wool--pine) > Patterns! Add 3 or more to your cart > and get 20% off—no code needed.** Ponderosa Socks take inspiration from their namesake [Ponderosa Sweater](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ponderosa-10) and [Ponderosa Hat](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ponderosa-hat-2), beloved for their plump cables and timeless feel. These socks bring that same bold texture to your feet while still being comfortable enough for everyday wear. Knit from the top down with a classic heel flap and gusset, they’re shaped to fit securely and hold their structure over time. Cables travel down the leg and continue across the top of the foot, giving the pair a cohesive look that feels right at home with the rest of the Ponderosa collection. --- ### **Design Details** Knit from the top down with a classic heel flap and gusset, they’re shaped to fit securely and hold their structure over time. Cables travel down the leg and continue across the top of the foot, giving the pair a cohesive look that feels right at home with the rest of the Ponderosa collection. --- ### **Pattern Highlights** - Classic heel flap and gusset fit securely on the foot - Bold cable panels that continue onto the instep - Written and charted cable instructions included - A satisfying project that finishes into an everyday wearable pair --- ### **Construction Overview** Ponderosa Socks are knit seamlessly in the round from the cuff down. The leg begins with ribbing before moving into the cable pattern. After the heel flap and gusset are completed, the foot is worked in the round with cables continuing along the instep and stockinette on the sole. The socks are finished with a Kitchener stitch toe closure. --- ### **Yarn Notes** We especially love [Plucky Knitter Feet Fingering](https://thepluckyknitter.com/products/feet) for this design. Its tight, round spin gives crisp stitch definition so the cables stay clear and dimensional, while the nylon content keeps the socks durable for daily wear. Fiber: 90% superwash merino / 10% nylon Yardage: 425 yds (388 m) per 115 g skein Any fingering weight sock yarn with good stitch definition will work well. Tonals and solids both highlight the cables nicely. --- ### **Needles & Gauge** US 1 (2.25 mm) DPNs or magic loop 28 sts x 54 rows = 4 x 4" in stockinette in the round (blocked) 16-st cable chart in the round = approx. 1.5" wide --- ### **Yardage Requirements** 350 (425, 510) yds 320 (388, 466) m For the largest size, a contrast heel and toe is recommended to avoid running out of yarn (approximately 25 g contrast color). --- ### **Finished Measurements** Choose a size with approximately **0–1" (0–2.5 cm) of negative ease** at the foot circumference. **Leg Length:** 6 (6.75, 6.75)” / 15 (17, 17) cm **Leg Circumference:** 7.5 (9, 10.5)” / 19 (23, 26.75) cm **Foot Length:** 9 (9.75, 10.5)” / 23 (25, 26.75) cm **Foot Circumference:** 7 (7.75, 8.5)” / 17.75 (19.75, 21.5) cm --- ### **Let’s Knit Together** Need a little extra guidance?
