FURAWA Bonnet

The FURAWA Bonnet is worked from the top down. After knitting a square for the crown of the head, stitches are picked up around three edges of the square and the flower eyelet pattern begins as you knit the body of the bonnet. Decreases are knit at the base of the hood for a better fit around the jaw/chin. Finally, stitches are picked up around the base and the face edge, and an i-cord is knit all the way around these edges for a finished look/ties to secure the bonnet. One size: (model has 53.3 cm/21 in circumference head) Gauge: 25 sts x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in stockinette stitch on 3.5mm/US 4 needles or size needed to achieve gauge (size up in needle if you get more than 25 sts per 4 inches, size down if you get less than 25 sts per 4 inches) Needles: 3.5mm/US 4 circular needles in 24” or greater length; double pointed needles for i-cord in same size (or whatever size needed for proper i-cord tension) Materials: 50g (2 balls) of Cardiff Cashmere Classic (25g = 110 m/20 yards so 50g = 220 m/240 yards); (the sample used 34g or approximately 150 m/164 yards total so you will probably have left over if you buy 2 ball of Cardiff Classics); alternatively, use a comparable sport weight yarn.
