My inspiration for these > mittens stems from their timeless > romance and witty dialogue that Austen > so masterfully crafted. **Materials** **Yarn**: Les Laines Biscotte Yarns, PatricKnits Merica (100% American-grown merino Rambouillet wool), 450 yd (411 m)/100 g, fingering weight: 178 yd (163 m) of Vanille (MC); 114 yd (104 m) of Slate Blue (CC) **Needles**: size 2½ (3 mm) set of double-pointed (dpns) or size needed to obtain gauge. (The mitts were worked using a 9" (22.5 cm) circular needle for the body of the mitts and dpns for the thumb) **Notions**: Markers (m): 3 (one in a distinctive color for beginning of round) Waste yarn or stitch holder for thumb stitches Tapestry needle **Gauge**: 32 sts × 36½ rnds = 4" (10.2 cm) in stockinette colorwork in the round, after blocking. **Finished Size**: 8" (20.5 cm) hand circumference and 9½" (24 cm) long, after blocking.
