Ziggy Sweater

The Ziggy Sweater is designed with a cropped, oversized fit, tight 1x1 rib trims and a button-up neckline. Knitted in an all over slip stitch stripe, the use of four colours and different yarn weights adds depth and texture to the stitch. The Ziggy Sweater is knitted in the round from the bottom up until reaching the armholes, the stitches are then split in half, working flat to form the front and back separately. The sleeves are then picked up around the armholes and knitted in the round from the top down. This pattern provides easy to follow detailed instructions using the following techniques: Long tail cast on, knitting in the round, knitting flat, knit, purl, slip stitch, reading charts, decreasing, increasing, cast off, folded cast off, picking up stitches, cable cast on. **Skill Level:** Intermediate. **Sizing:** 8 sizes (XS-4X) see size guide. Alice wears size 2 (S). **Yarn:** Using a mix of yarn textures gives the most interesting result for this stitch. We have used 1 Fingering weight yarn (colour A), 2 Aran weight yarns (colours B and D) and 1 lace weight yarn (colour C): Colour A + held double for ribs: Brown (we suggest a darker colour) 5 [6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8] balls of Majo Garn, Fine Merino, brownie - 100% fine merino wool. (175m/191yds per 50g ball.) Colour B: Light Grey (we suggest a lighter colour) 4 [5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6] balls of Scheepjes, Cahlista, 172 light silver - 100% cotton (85m/93yds per 50g ball.) Colour C: Dark Grey (we suggest a darker colour) 2 [2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4] balls of Scheepjes, Maxi Sweet Treat, 393 charcoal - 100% cotton mercerized. (140m/153yds per 25g ball.) Colour D: White (we suggest a lighter colour) 3 [3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5] balls of CaMaRose, Lamauld - 50% Lama, 50% virgin wool.
