Winter Story Sweater

Story behind Winter Story Sweater: January 2024 I decided to make a sweater for my immediate family members as a Christmas present for Christmas 2024. I have 3 adult size men as part of my immediate family, and I struggled finding a pattern I like, so I decided to design my own, something suitable for not just Christmas but the rest of Winter months too! This sweater is designed for male body measurements, but that does not mean ladies can't wear it! I used chunky/bulky yarn for my original design but I also made a sample using aran/worsted, both worked really well, so as long as you can meet the gauge, you can use the yarn you prefer. Many of my testers used aran/worsted and some even dk weight yarn. Gauge/tension: Using 7mm hook and chunky/bulky yarn Ch 13. Sc into the second chain from your hook, dc into the next chain, *sc into following chain, dc into the following chain*, repeat from * to * until one chain remains, end with a dc into the final chain (12 sts). Ch 1, turn work. Sc into dc from previous row, dc into sc from previous row, ch1, turn work (12 sts). Repeat until you have made 10 rows in total. 10 rows and 12 stitches equals to 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4 inches (before blocking) Yarn requirements (approximately) A - main colour B - contrast colour S: 1400 yards (1260 colour A/140 colour B) M: 1500 yards (1350 colour A/150 colour B) L: 1650 yards (1650 colour A/165 colour B) XL: 1830 yards (1650 colour A/180 colour B) Measurements (approximate): S: fits up to 36” chest M: fits up to 40” chest L: fits up to 44” chest XL: fits up to 48” chest This pattern is intended to have 2” positive ease per size.
