Bag of Hearts

The pattern makes a useful bag for trinkets or small knitting and crochet projects. It would also make a good gift bag with goodies inside. This pattern assumes a familiarity with overlay mosaic crochet and does not contain a tutorial. Although the overlay mosaic crochet method is used because this is completed in a circular fashion you avoid the multiple ends. A full written pattern is provided, plus a chart, with Xs marked, for the multiple hearts section, for those who prefer to work that way. The bag can be made continuously with a single layer base. However instructions for incorporating a second layer, for greater stability, is included in the pattern. The bag is designed for DK weight yarn and is about 4.5ins (12cm) across the base and about 9ins (23cm) high before you tie the cord which brings it down to about 8ins (20cm). Tension is not critical. Two colours are needed: a darker and a lighter one that offer a good contrast. You will need about 100m (110yds) of each. It would be possible to change the size by either using a thinner or thicker yarn or by changing the number of repeats but more details on this are not given.
