Masha Cowl

The Masha Cowl was written for a dear friend to keep her warm during the coldest of winter. It’s versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down. Due to the nature of ribbing, it’s got a 16” diameter when the ribs pull together. However it can stretch to 24” and is not tight on the neck. It’s also reversible and can be worn right side up or upside down! This pattern has been tech edited and test knit. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner Skills: K, P, Cable Left, Cable Right, Knit in the Round If you’ve never give done cables before, give them a try! There aren’t many, just enough to give the cowl some squishy texture. The pattern uses US English knitting terms and abbreviations. Yarn: 180-200 yards Aran weight, like Ella Rae Cashmereno Aran, or a thicker Worsted weight. Yarn Weight Note: The Craft Yarn Council doesn’t have a separate numerical designation for Aran weight yarn - it’s usually grouped with Worsted as a “4 Medium”. However, one company’s Worsted weight may be thinner and closer to a DK weight, and another company’s Worsted weight yarn be thicker and closer to an Aran weight. If the selected yarn is a thinner Worsted weight, you may need a to reduce your needle size. Gauge: Swatch should be knit 2x2 Rib and blocked with ribbing relaxed (naturally pulled together). Do not stretch or pin.
