Farah Beanie

The Farah Beanie is an excellent project for the winter season. It has a lovely texture created by using simple crochet stitches. Relax while crocheting this beanie with these easy stitches. SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate MATERIALS • Worsted Weight (#4) Yarn. Approximately 180 – 200 yards • Crochet Hook 5.5 mm (or size to obtain gauge) • Scissors • Darning Needle • Tape Measure • Optional: Stitch Markers, Pompom GAUGE: 18 sts X 18 rows = 4 inches (unblocked), see the Gauge Pattern below FINISHED MEASUREMENT: Approx. 9 (height) x 18.25 (circumference) inches (unstretched, unblocked) STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS | US Terminology BLO – Back Loop Only Ch(s) – Chain(s) Rep – Repeat Slst(s) – Slip Stitch(es) St(s) – Stitch(es) CSSC – Cross Stitch Single Crochet NOTES 1. Read the pattern carefully before starting. 2. This pattern is worked sideways and seamed together at the end. 3. The beginning ch 1 does not count as a stitch. 4. All slip stitches are worked through the BLO (back loop only) while all Cross Stitch Single Crochet stitches are worked through both loops. 5. I suggest checking your slip stitches as you go and working them loosely. They tend to alter your gauge, tighten it, and change the beanie’s size. 6. I recommend using stitch markers to mark the beginning/end of the body/brim and body/crown of the beanie. Remember to move stitch markers as you progress. 7. Not all heads conform to size by age; please measure for a more accurate fit. If you want to adjust the size of your beanie, you should add/subtract 2 rows. If you want your beanie to be longer or slouchy, add a few more chains to the foundation chain. Note that the main (body) pattern repeat is a multiple of 2 stitches.
