Notes from the Designer:
Who doesn’t love pockets? This simple two-row repeat scarf has two pockets that are made by using the waistcoat or knit stitch. The waistcoat stitch is a simple single crochet that looks like it’s knit. The Qanuk (pronounced ka-nook, meaning “snowflake” in Yupik), or snowflake motif, are made by yarn color changes, carrying the unused yarn along the backside of the work.
* The scarf was designed to wrap around the neck at least once. The length can easily be shortened or lengthened.
* Due to the nature of the Waistcoat stitch, the pocket may twist or tilt. This can be corrected with blocking.
* The pockets are worked in continuous rounds, moving the EOR marker up each row.
* The first two placed markers do not move up rows. See more under Ribbing.
* When changing color in a round, before working the last yarn over to complete the stitch and before the new color, drop the previous color, and grab the new color to finish the last yarn over.
* Carry Color B around the entire pocket. Floats can be used.
* When working Row 1 of the ribbing, you will be closing the bottom of the pocket by working through the front stitches and the back stitches of the pocket.
*Designed by Patricia Liefeld*
