**Venusray’s Demi Bag** **Materials:** • Cotton yarn. I used Lily Sugar’n Cream Yarn (color: Sonoma Print). 2 balls. • Size H crochet hook. **Abbreviations:** • ch – chain • sl – slip • sc – single crochet • dc – double crochet • esc – extended single crochet • st/sts – stitch/stitches • ( )* - repeat the instructions **Pattern:** **Base:** • Ch30 • Rnd 1: 2dc in 4th st, 1dc in the next 25 sts, 6 dc into last st. This completes one side of the base. 1dc in next 25 sts (this is the other side of the base), 3dc into last st. Join with a sl st into 3rd ch of beginning ch3. (62 dc sts – including ch3 at the beginning of the round) • Rnd 2: ch3 (counts at 1dc), 1dc into same st, 2dc into next 2 sts, 1 dc into next 25 sts, 2dc into next 6 sts, 1 dc into next 25 sts, 2 dc into remaining 3 sts. Join with a sl st into 3rd ch of beginning of ch3. (74 dc sts) • Rnd3: ch3 (counts at 1dc), 1dc into same st, 2dc into next 3 sts, 1 dc into next 29 sts, 2dc into next 8 sts, 1 dc into next 29 sts, 2 dc into remaining 4 sts. Join with a sl st into 3rd ch of beginning of ch3. (90 dc sts) **Body:** • Rnd 4: ch3 (counts at 1dc), 2dc into same st. (skip next 2 sts, 3dc into next st)* repeat from * around. Join with a sl st into 3rd ch of beginning of ch3. (90 dc sts) • Rnd 5: sl st into next st, ch3 (counts at 1dc), 2dc into same st, (skip next 2 sts, 3dc into next st)* repeat from * around. Join with a sl st into 3rd ch of beginning of ch3. (90 dc sts) • Rnd 6-19: repeat Rnd5. You’ll have about 8 inches of the bag’s body. If you want a longer/shorter bag, adjust accordingly. • Rnd 20: ch1 (does not count as a st), 1 sc into same st, 1sc around. Join with a sl st into 1st sc. (90 sc sts) • Rnd 21-25: repeat Rnd20. This is the edge of the bag. This is about 1.25” long. **Strap:** Pattern may be hard to understand. A youtube video may help. Turn the work inward, and esc into the side st. • Rnd 2: Turn work inward, insert the hook into the 2 sts on the side facing you, and do an esc. • Repeat Rnd2 until you reach the length. (72 inches) • On the front of the bag, insert the stap in between 3rd and 4th shell. (A shell is a group of 3 dc in the same stitch), skip 2 shells and pull it out. Skip 8 shells and insert the strap in, skip 2 shells and pull the strap out. Skip 3 shells, and insert the strap in. Skip 2 shells and pull the strap out. Skip 8 shells and pull the strap in. Skip 2 shells and pull it out. Join the end of straps with needle.
