These adorable no sew birds work up so quickly, they make perfect market stock or stocking stuffers for the holiday season. NOTE: The paid pattern is an ad-free PDF version of patterns that will be available for free on my blog at www.53stitches.com before the end of 2024. Cute and cuddly, these are great beginner projects, with 12 different birds to choose from: Chicken Chick Raven Duck Cockatoo Pigeon Galah Kookaburra Lorikeet Magpie Budgie (Blue + White) Budgie (Green + Yellow) + a PDF of all the stitches and techniques used for beginners. There are 3 PDFs total: - a 41 page document with photo tutorials of all of the 12 bird patterns - a trimmed down printable copy without photos - a techniques guide for beginners ------------------------------------------------------------------- MATERIALS A bird made in a singe colour uses less than 30g of a #6 super bulky weight yarn in the brands mentioned below. The exact brands and colours and yarns used for the photographed birds are mentioned on the page for each bird, but I've used the following yarns interchangeably: - Hobbii Honey Bunny - Hobbii Baby Snuggle Solid - Hobbii Toucan - Premier Parfait Chunky - Cygnet Jellybaby Chenille Chunky You'll also need: - 10mm safety eyes (red ones are recommended for the Raven, black for the others) - 5.00mm crochet hook - polyester stuffing - yarn needle - scissors - scrap DK weight yarn (white and orange) for outlining the eyes of the Raven and Lorikeet FINISHED DIMENSIONS Each doll is approximately 3.15 inches (8cm) tall when finished, and about 7.5cm (~3 inches) wide. This can vary depending on your yarn and hook size used. All birds in the photographs were made with #6 super bulky weight chenille yarn (120m/131yards per 100g) and a 5.00mm crochet hook. RECOMMENDED SKILL LEVEL This pattern comes with plenty of photos of how to do any tricky techniques, and is suitable for beginners! Beginners might consider using a different yarn (like DK weight acrylic + a 3.0mm crochet hook) as chenille yarn can be tricky to work with for newbies! The pattern comes with my beginners stitch guide, and additionally has extra tutorials for picking up stitches for the wings, popcorn stitches for the feet and beaks and specific tutorials for any trickier techniques - such as the Kookaburra and Ducks beaks, and the Chicken, Cockatoo and Galah's crest/comb. ------------------------------------------------------------------- These patterns are in English only.
