First you work the brim in the round, before you knit it up towards the cast-on edge to make it double. After that you begin to work the top of the beanie in intarsia back and forth, while leaving an opening at the center back. When you’ve finished the intarsia you’ll begin to shape the top of the beanie with decreases. Then you close the opening at the back by making a mane.
