Homegrown Hoodie, for kids

**CONSTRUCTION** This **child-sized** relaxed-fit pullover comes with a front pocket and a hood. As a seamless set-in-sleeve design with compound increases, it is worked from the top-down as a yoke, with increases placed strategically to provide an ideal fit in the shoulders, chest and sleeves. Beginning at the back neck, the shoulders are increased at four points similar to a raglan yoke, while simultaneously shaping the neckline, and once complete, the armhole shaping is also done within the yoke. The garment is divided for sleeves and body and the body is worked in the round in stockinette until stitches are put on hold and sections are worked separately to shape the front and liner of the pocket.  The sleeves are seamlessly shaped in the round as one piece to the cuffs. In final steps, the neckline is picked up to work the hood. The entire garment is worked primarily in stockinette, with some garter to aid shaping the shoulder lines, and ribbed edges throughout. This pattern includes Progress Trackers to keep on top of stitch counts per section, provided per size.
 **HOW TO CHOOSE A SIZE** This pattern has 9 size options, fitting children approximately 1 yr, 1.5 yr, 2 yr || 3 yr, 4 yr, 5 yr || 6 yr, 8 yr, 10 yr old. Using the recipients chest measurement, choose a size that will give 3-6 inches (6-14cm) of positive ease (the difference between body’s smaller measurements and the garment’s larger measurements at these points). The most fool-proof method is to measure a similar fitting garment in the child’s wardrobe and choose a garment size that matches. **GAUGE** in 4 inches (10cm) after blocking Stockinette with Large needle: 20 sts by 26 rnds. **YARN** * 2, 3, 3 || 3, 3, 4 || 4, 4, 5 hanks of Estelle Worsted (50% acrylic, 40% wool, 10% nylon), 200m / 218 y / 100g, or * 358, 413, 454 || 516, 563, 631 || 702, 799, 879m (391, 450, 496 || 563, 614, 688 || 766, 871, 958 y) of substitute worsted or heavy DK-weight yarn. Green sample worked in colour “Q61283,” while burgundy sample was worked in Katia Pluma (85% cotton, 15% polyamide) 150m / 164 yd / 50g in colour “Burgundy 78”, with pattern modified for a larger gauge. **NEEDLES** Small, for ribbing: 3.5mm (US 4). Large, for all other portions of the garment: 4.0mm (US 6). These are suggested sizes; adjust needles as required to obtain gauge. **CIRCULAR CORD LENGTHS** - increase cord length as needed.  Short: 16 inch (40cm) for working small stitch counts flat. Long: 30 inch (75cm) cord for working small circumference in magic loop and large stitch counts in the rnd, or choose your preferred methods.
