Leaving Japan, my homeland, over 20 years ago, I find myself yearning for its sights, especially as March comes to a close. Each year, colors gradually fill what was once a monochrome canvas, and the area around the cherry blossom trees turns a beautiful pink, creating a breathtaking scene that fills me with longing. I've created various motifs inspired by cherry blossoms before, but this version is my absolute favorite. I especially like the shape of the flower petals’ tips. ------------------------------------------------------- **FINISHED SIZE** A diameter of approx. 13 cm {5”} with a thickness of 0.5 cm {0.2”}. **YARN** Approx. 41 m {45 yd} of DK Weight held 3 strands together. Sample shown on the front page―― Wren 8ply Cotton Fiddlesticks (100% Cotton), 125 m {136 yd}/50 g, Col. Petal-008, 1 skein, held 3 strands together (can make 3 Sakura flowers). Or any weight yarn will do as you like! Fingering weight – 4 strands together Worsted weight – 2 strands together Super Bulky – 1 strand Or DK weight – 2 strands together for a thinner finish. The pattern can be versatile and used to create different items such as a trivet, appliqué, or accessory by adjusting the size of the thread and needle. **HOOK** 5.5 mm {USI-9} **GAUGE** Double crochet (3 chains) = 2.5 cm {1”}. **NOTIONS** Tapestry needle for weaving ends, scissors. **NOTES** This Sakura pattern is worked from the centre out in joined rounds. Pattern is written in US terms.
