Highland Home Vest

Highland Home Vest echoes memories of my family history with cables and braids. Conversation growing up in my childhood home was always rich with stories. I treasure and share those generational tales, and love the current updates of a close-knit family, supportive and welcoming of new paths and circles. Designed to fit with with 2-5" / 10-13 cm positive ease. Vest is worked in the round from the hem upwards to armholes. Back and Front are worked flat from armholes to Shoulder. Body of vest features a ribbed hem, followed by combinations of Braids and Cables, with Double Moss texture along the garment sides and twisted rib edging along armholes and V–neck. Patterning varies based on size; work instructions according to specific size. Texture instructions are charted-only, grouped by size. Set Up round is written out based on size. Difficulty/Skills Required: Level: Experienced. Knit, Purl, Cables, Long Tail and Knitted cast on methods, Knitting in the round and flat, armhole decreases with simultaneous neck shaping. Yarn Weight: Worsted Suggested Yarns: Studio Donegal Soft Donegal Knitting Wool (100% Merino wool); 210 yds / 192 m per 3.53 oz / 100 g skein. Great Bay Wool Works (100% sheep wool from our flock, no dyes) 200 yds / 183 m per 3-4 oz / 85-113 g skein. Needle Size: US 7 / 4.5 mm 16” / 40 cm and 32” / 81 cm US 8 / 5.0 mm 24” / 61 cm (for sizes 1–3) or 32” / 81 cm circular needle. Use the needle size that allows you to meet gauge. Gauge: All gauges are calculated per 4” / 10 cm finished, blocked fabric, using gauge needles.
