The Sunset Sweater

***about:*** The Sunset Sweater is a boxy, oversized, drop-shoulder sweater with engaging stranded color-work starting at the underarms and carrying through until the hem and cuffs. This sweater is knit with 4 colors, though only two colors are used at a time, and color-work is only ever worked in the round. The pattern always notes which color is the dominant color in each particular motif, so pay attention to those notes for optimal color dominance. **sizes:** 1,2,3,(4,5,6,)7,8,9 **intended bust circumference:** 28-30, 32- 34, 36-38, (40-42, 44-46, 48-50,) 52-54, 56- 58, 60-62" // 71-76, 81-86, 91.5-96.5, (101.5- 106.5, 111.5-117, 122-127,) 132-137, 142- 147, 152-158 cm finished bust circumference: 38, 40, 45, (48, 53, 56), 61, 64, 68" // 97, 102, 114, (122, 135, 142), 154, 163, 173 cm **ease and choosing a size:** This garment is intended to be worn with 7-10" or 21-26 cm of positive ease. However, you may size up or down for a more oversized or closer fitting look if that is what you prefer. The sample shown in photos is size 2 on a 32" bust (8" ease) *see further schematics at the bottom of this page* **gauge:** 19 st x 28 rows // 4x4" // 10x10cm in stockinette knit flat. **suggested needles:** *body:* US 7 // 4.5 mm circular needles *ribbing:* US 5 // 3.75 mm circular needles *sleeves:* DPNs if not using magic loop method. *You may need to size up or down for the color work and/or the sleeves if your gauge changes for these things. Limited time only **materials:** stitch markers (at least one should be locking), scrap yarn or stitch holders, tapestry needle for weaving in ends. ***Construction:*** The sweater is knit top down, starting with the back yoke knit flat with shoulder shaping. Stitches are picked up to knit the front left and right shoulders before joining them together for the front yoke, knit flat. The front and back yoke are then joined to knit in the round at the underarm, which is when the color-work begins. Once the sweater reaches the desired length, the color-work ends, and the sweater is finished off with a 2x2 ribbed hem. Stitches are picked up for the arms, and german short rows are knit before beginning the color-work.
