Perle Sweater

I think seed stitch is one of the prettiest textured stitches and is very easy to knit. Perle sweater is mainly worked in the round, and due to different stitch counts there are no changes in the pattern at the start of the round. You always work in knits and purls. Perle sweater has European shoulders, that gives elegant lines that continue from the shoulder and down the armhole. Double pointed needles 5 mm [US8]. If you use magic loop, you do not need double-pointed needles. Gauge 14 sts x approx. 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4”] seed st on 6 mm [US10] needles. Size selection The sweater is short and has a roomy fit. It has an intended positive ease of 25-35 cm [10-14 inches], depending on how oversized you’d like the fit to be. The pictured sweater has positive ease of approx. 32 cm [12,5 inches]. The length is measured at the centre-back, including the neckband. Construction note The sweater has a European shoulder i.e. you start working the back panel flat, making increases on both sides for the shoulders down to the bottom of the armhole. Then you leave the back panel sts to rest while working first the left then the right sides of the front until the neckline is shaped. The front pieces are then joined and worked flat down to the armhole. Then the body is worked in the round by joining the front and back. Stitches are then picked up around the armhole and the body and sleeves are worked in the round. The sleeves are straight with a choice of either a wide rib (beige sweater) or a tight rib (off white sweater). The neck band is worked in rib.
