**Possit** *Possit is a Scots word meaning “possibility”* **Yarn** Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% Wool; 30% Mohair; 100m / 109yds per 25g ball) 14-17 balls in palette preferred (see palette picking advice below) **Approximate minimum yarn usage:** All sizes: select 1 ball for i-cord bind off around hem, collar and cuffs Plus: First size: minimum 13 balls (total 14 balls) Second and third sizes: minimum 14 balls (total 15 balls) Fourth and fifth sizes: minimum 15 balls (total 16 balls) Sixth and seventh sizes: minimum 16 balls (total 17 balls) If you are knitting the first, second or third sizes and wish to add significant length to sleeves or body, please add another ball of yarn to your palette. **Needles and notions** Gauge-size circular needles (of your preferred length) for knitting body, fronts and back Spare gauge-size needles or needle cords for setting body stitches aside Above gauge-size needle (any length) for working i-cord bind off Gauge-size needle(s) of your preferred type for working small circumferences (for sleeves) Waste yarn for holding sleeve stitches Stitch markers Tapestry needle Ribbon or tape for finishing interior bands and edges (optional) **Gauge** 24 sts and 48 rows (24 ridges) to 10cm / 4in over garter stitch Use 3.5mm needle as a starting point for swatching. **Sizes** Finished chest circumference (with bands worn open): 92.5 (100.5, 111, 121.5, 129.5, 143, 151) cm / 36½ (40, 43¾, 47¾, 51, 56¼, 59½) in Select the size above your actual measurements, with the amount of ease preferred. Shown in the first, second and third sizes. **Pattern notes** This garter stitch jacket is worked top down, all in one piece. Following a simple sequence of two row / one ridge stripes, the fronts, sleeves, and back are shaped together with paired increases and, after the sleeves are set aside, some sizes continue shaping the garment’s front and back. The body is then worked and stitches remain live on the needles while the collar and bands are picked up and worked all around the neck and front openings. When the collar and bands are complete, a neat i-cord bind off is worked all around the neckline, fronts and waistline. The sleeves are then picked up and worked top-down. Consult the sizing table and schematic for detailed measurements and proportions and, if you are adding length to the body or sleeves, please bear in mind that you may need another ball of yarn in addition to the minimum quantity specified. When one number is given it applies to all sizes. *With thanks to knitters Dawn, Eleanor and Aileen and models Kate C, Iona and Fenella*
