**PATTERN STORY** I originally saw this stitch pattern on a commercially made sweater at a cafe in Amsterdam and instantly fell in love. As I walked along the canals in the city center I could not get it out of my head. I knew I had to make it into something. One day I’ll make a sweater out of it, but for now, let’s get acquainted with the motif via this beautiful hat. **SKILLS NEEDED** Cast on, knit, purl and twisted stitches (tutorial in pattern) **YARN** Knitting for Olive - Heavy Merino - 2 balls / 50g , 155m / 170 yds Blue Sky Fibers - Woolstock Worsted - Grey Heather - 1 skein / 100g, 160m / 175 yds **GAUGE & NEEDLES** Pattern motif is 10 stitches in 5mm / 2in & 23 rows over 7.5cm / 3in The recommended needles are 5mm / US 8 with a 40cm / 16in circular cable **RECOMMENDED NOTIONS** One removable stitch marker A wool needle Double pointed needles or a longer cord for magic loop **FINISHED MEASUREMENTS** Folded brim: 31cm / 12in legnth Unfolded brim: 24.5cm / 9.5in legnth Fits head circumference of 51-59cm / 20-23in **PATTERN NOTES** This is knitted in one piece in the round.
