Want a scarf with some wow but not too much thinking to do as you make it? This easily memorised pattern, worked on the bias, keeps your fingers busy while your mind is occupied (or is simple enough for beginners) and lets the colours of the hand-dyed yarn do all the talking. Just one 100g skein of 4ply makes a nice long crescent shaped scarf for wrapping with a pretty puff stitch detail. We planned for the pooling on a skein of Socka from Sparkleduck but it will work well with self stripings and highly variagated yarns too. Size Finished depth: 23cm/9in Finished length: 165cm/65in Length is easily adjusted by working more or fewer rows. A deeper scarf can be achieved by working more repeats in the set up section. Altering the size alters the yarn required. Materials 1 100g skein Sparkleduck Socka (4ply weight, 80% Merino Superwash Wool, 20%nylon, 365m) in Another 48 to Go. 4.5mm (US 7) hook. Tension 20 sts and 16 rows in pattern to 10 cm/4in using 4.5mm hook (or size needed to achieve tension) Difficulty Rating Easy Skills Needed Basic crochet stitches, working in rows, increasing, missing stitches. Construction Started at one end, worked on the bias, an initial increase section is worked followed by a series of wedges that are all the same length.
