Albert de Moncerf

Albert de Moncerf is a character in the adventure novel “The Count of Monte Cristo” (Le Comte de Monte-Cristo, 1844) by by French author Alexandre Dumas (père). With the naïveté and carelessness of a wealthy youth, Albert lives an easy life and enjoys it to its fullest. Albert’s father is Fernand, Count de Morcerf, who once betrayed Monte Cristo and stole away his betrothed, Mercédès. Luckily, the young Albert has inherited his mother’s (Mercédès) integrity and honest character and when he learns of his father's crimes, he renounces his name and fortune and departs to build a new life of his own, free of disgrace. The pattern on these sock are very fitting to describe young Albert: when relaxed, you see the flowing lines of a malleable youth in the sock's textured fabric. But when stretched and under pressure, they become straight and form a well defined clear-cut pattern.
