*Deutsche Info siehe unten.*
This is the second of three summer tops in **The Santorini Collection:** [one for the town][3], one for dinner, [one for the beach][4]… Read more about it [here][5].
*Γλαυκῶπις, "bright-eyed", is one of the many names given to Athena, the ancient goddess of the Mediterranean Sea, who manifests herself in so many shapes across cultures, places and centuries.*
**Sizing / yarn requirements:** See bottom picture for detailed sizing and yardage table.
The top is supposed to be worn with 5 to 7 cm ~ 2 to 3 inches of negative ease around the bust and some positive ease in the waist and around the bottom edge.
The 12 sizes are grouped into three sets with slightly different proportions, and the pattern contains detailed advice for individual waist and bust shaping, as well as for adjusting the depth of the neckline, omitting the lace panels, and working at a different gauge.
The top is shown in size S3 on a person with a 84 cm / 33” bust and a 90 cm / 35” hip.
**Yarn advice:**
The original top was knitted with DyeForYarn's Tussah Silk (700 m / 760 yds per 100g) in the colour "Diving into the Carribean Sea".
Any laceweight or light fingering yarn can be used for this garment. Pure silk and silk blends are recommended for an elegant drape and lustre. Various kinds of plant fibre blends can be used, too, e.g. silk/linen, silk/cotton, anything with viscose or tencel would work well, but too much linen or hemp content might prevent the neckline from draping nicely. Wool or other animal fibre is not recommended if this top is intended for summer wear.
**Needle advice:**
Use the needle size that gives you the required gauge, most likely 2 – 2.75 mm / US #0 - 2. You will need a medium long circular needle (80 - 100 cm / 32 - 40'') to knit the body in one piece.
**Construction:**
The top is knitted bottom up in the round. The waist is shaped with decreases and increases next to the lace panels. At the armholes it is split into front and back, each are finished separately knitted flat.
The neckline and armholes are finished with rolled hems. The lace pattern for the side panels is provided as a chart and as written instructions.
