A Sailor's Wife Socks

A fun, feminine ruffle leads to pretty sails flying around the leg of Mrs. Anne Wentworth's sock. The lacy sails are formed with slip-stitches and garter stitch. At the very end of *Persuasion*, Anne and Frederick have their happy ending. Anne ” *… gloried in being a sailor’s wife*.” I wanted to knit a more feminine sock for Anne to go with the [HMS Laconia Socks][1] that I designed for the SKA Literary Challenge in 2013 (Captain Wentworth’s socks). A Sailor's Wife Socks were designed for the 2014 SKA Literary challenge. The pattern was also used by the Supersock World Championship group for Lap 2 of its 2025 speed-knitting challenge. Three sizes are charted for Small (Medium, and Large). Yardage approx. 370 (390, 410) This pattern has been test knit and professionally tech edited.
