The pattern specifies: Bedspread weight cotton thread (size 10) [350 yards (320 meters) per ball]: One ball. (The sample in the book was made with Aunt Lydia's Classic Crochet Thread, #401 Orchid Pink.) Steel crochet hook, size 7 (1.65 mm) or size needed for gauge. Gauge swatch: 2.75" / 7 cm diameter. Work same as pattern through Round 6. Stitches: Double Treble Crochet, Back Post Single Crochet, Front Post Single Crochet, Front Post Treble Crochet, Split DC, Split Cluster, SC Decrease. The doily is worked in 31 rounds, and the pattern begins on page 29. The instructions are written; there is no symbol stitch diagram for this pattern.
