2 patterns for the price of one! Choose from the Cardigan or Sweater version..Or make both of them! (Please note the cardigan version exists only in English for the time being, but the sweater exists in English, French and Korean).
**Traditional Fair isle motifs, revisited and modernised**
An adult version of my popular Noomi Cardigan knitting pattern for children. The sweater features a roll-top neck knit entirely in the round from the top down. It has a fitted yoke that blooms out into a wide-fitting body and sleeves. The body is cropped and visible decreases are used at the hem ribbing, giving it a flattering, rounded-look at the waist. The bracelet-length sleeves feature visible decreases along the bottom half of the sleeve before being gathered into a tight cuff, to accentuate the rounded, cocoon-shape of this modern, Fair Isle sweater.
The Cardigan version has more classic proportions, with a straight-down shaping and 3/4-length sleeves that gather into a loose cuff. Also knit in the round from the top down, you will include a steek to cut open the cardigan, in traditional Fair Isle fashion.
**Note on sizing**
The sweater has a very wide-fitting body and sleeves, with 20-30 cm of positive ease (the positive ease gets
slightly less as the sizes go up to make the most flattering shape for your body). The cropped style can be lengthened to your preference, simply follow a Body Chart for a larger size.
**Level of difficulty and skills required**
Intermediate. Pattern requires chartreading skills and knowledge of how to do short rows. Pattern also assumes knowledge of the Fair Isle technique (stranded colourwork) and tubular cast on (or any cast-on of your choice). For the cardigan you will also need to know how to knit, secure and cut a steek.
**Yarn**
Roussin-Alpaga by Bouclelaine / 266 m per 100g. www.bouclelaine.fr
Or any DK yarn that knits 23 stitches to 10 cm (4 inches) on 3-3.5 mm needles. For the contrast ribbing at the bottom, I used ‘merinos-Angora10’, and for the contrast colours in the yoke, I used a mix of different yarns from Bouclelaine’s range, but this is an ideal yoke design for using up leftovers from your stash.
PLEASE VISIT BOUCLELAINE FOR THE FULL KIT FOR THIS DESIGN, INCLUDING ALL THE COLOURS YOU NEED FOR THE YOKE.
