Kueh Lapis Sagu Amigurumi

This amigurumi was inspired by the [*kueh lapis sagu*][1], a traditional local confection in Singapore and Malaysia that many Singaporeans and Malaysians have enjoyed from childhood. It also goes by the names *lapis sagu*, which is Malay for "layer sago", and *jiu ceng gao*, "nine layer cake" in Mandarin Chinese. It is a 9-layered sticky steamed cake made from a mixture of sago flour, rice flour, coconut milk and pandan leaves. The layers are traditionally coloured in alternating coloured bands of red, green and white. In some communities, particularly the Peranakan community, it is also coloured in shades of red and pink for festive occasions or in shades of blue for mourning. ## Pattern Notes ## This pattern is beginner-friendly. The pattern includes 2 versions: the classic tricoloured version of white, green and red, and a rainbow coloured version. The amigurumi consists of 2 parts, the main body and the base, which are then stitched together. ## Finished Size ## Approx. 5.7cm long by 2.7cm wide by 3.7cm tall.
