Toe up socks are your best bet if you are trying to squeeze a pair of socks out of a small amount of yarn. You can adjust the length of the leg to accommodate different yarn amounts. If you have a yarn scale, you can divide your yarn in half before you begin to make sure you have enough for the second sock. (This is not necessary for the two smallest sizes if using the given yarn.) Watching the colors change as you stitch up these easy socks is an absolute joy! These socks are worked in the round from the toe up, adding increases to create a gusset. The heel is worked back and forth in turned rows and the stitches are picked up from the row ends of the heel and working in the round is resumed, decreasing to shape the gusset. After the short leg is worked, ribbing is added in turned rows while being simultaneously joined to the ankle opening. Choose a size that measures about 1-1.5” smaller than foot circumference for best fit. Length of leg and foot is easily adjustable- finished length of sock should measure about 1” shorter than foot length for best fit. If making the largest size, consider purchasing one extra ball of yarn for extra insurance as this will use nearly all of the first ball and if gauge is slightly off 1 ball may not be enough.
