Cara Sweater

Cara means friend in Irish, and the Cara sweater can truly be a loyal friend. It is worked top-down in 100% wool and is almost impossible to wear out. In addition, it gets softer each time you wear it. The patterns are traditional Irish Aran patterns that give the sweater a dense fabric. The sweater retains a good fit as the side panels and the underside of the sleeves lack the cable pattern. The sweater can also be made with Hjelholt Dansk Pelsuld 5,5/2 (100 g = 275 m). Recommended needles 3 mm and 4 mm circular [U23 and US6] needles, 40 and 80 cm [16 and 32 inches]. 3 and 4 mm [US2 and US6] double pointed needles. 2,5 mm [US2] circular needle, 40 cm [16 inches] for the neckline. If using magic loop, you do not need double pointed needles. Gauge 21 sts x approx. 28 rows rice stitch pattern = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] on 4 mm [US6] needles. Construction note Worked top-down with raglan increases. The first rows are worked flat with increases to shape the neckline, after which the sweater is joined and worked in the round. When all raglan increases are worked, the body and sleeves are worked separately. The neckband is worked at the end.
