SAGLAN PULLOVER A hybrid between saddle shoulder and raglan construction, the Saglan Pullover is a unisex pattern with hints at military styling. The main feature of this design is the flare of the saddle shoulders, which creates a structured silhouette with the flexibility to accommodate individual differences in shoulder width and slope. A highly adaptable pattern designed to suit a variety of figures and stylistic preferences. There are now two versions of Saglan included in this one purchase: the original DK-Aran weight pattern, and a newer Fingering-Sportweight version. Knit it for any season and enjoy! .......... NOTES ON YARN SELECTION Fingering-Sportweight Version: Choosing a yarn toward the fingering weight end of the weight range will result in a more airy, open fabric. Choosing a yarn toward the sportweight end of the weight range will result in a denser, firmer fabric. If knitting this for the warmer season, consider a cotton or linen blend yarn, or superwash merino (sock yarn will work as well). If knitting for the coder season, consider a non-superwash wool or alpaca blend. This pattern also works in Nutiden single-stranded. DK-Aran Version: Choosing a yarn toward the DK end of the weight range will result in a more airy, open fabric (a woollen spun yarn that can be worked above gauge is recommended if opting for this). Choosing a yarn toward the Aran end of the weight range will result in a denser, firmer fabric. Another possibility is to combine finer yarns to achieve a DK-Aran weight equivalent. For example: . unspun wool held double (Nutiden and &Point are better suited for this than Plotulopi, which is too heavy) . standard fingering weight yarn held double . standard sport weight yarn, held double . 1 strand fingering weight yarn, held together with 1 strand sport weight yarn . 1strand fingering or sport weight yarn, held together with 1 strand lace weight mohair Note: When combining yarns in this manner, you can use strands of the same colour, or use 2 different colours to achieve a marled effect. .......... WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SAGLAN & VERSAL? In many ways, the two pullover patterns are similar. There are however two main differences: 1. Versal is a standard saddle shoulder design, whereas Saglan is a hybrid between saddle shoulder and raglan construction. 2.
