Inspired by vintage balaclavas, the Bug Hood is a versatile winter essential. A super warm snood, a cosy balaclava and a functioning hood, all in one! The perfect layering accessory. With step by step, easy to follow instructions it's a fast but fun project using the following techniques: Long tail cast on, 1x1 rib stitch, stocking stitch, increasing and decreasing, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, Invisible seam or crochet join. Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate. Yarn: Aran/Worsted weight yarn. We have used: 2 balls of Wool and the Gangs Feeling Good Yarn - 70% baby alpaca, 23% nylon, and 7% merino wool. (130m/142yds per 50g ball.) or 2 balls of Drops Air - 65% alpaca, 28% polyamide and 7% wool. (150m/164yds per 50g ball.) Suggested Needle Size: 6.5mm/US 10.5 circular knitting needles, length 50cm/20'' and 7mm/US 10.5 knitting needles. Gauge: Stocking Stitch with 2 strands of yarn held together: 10cm/4'' x 10cm/4'' = 12sts x 17 rows Language: English One size: The bug hood has a neck circumference of 36cm/14.25'' flat. Due to the nature of the ribbed knit, it can stretch comfortably to a circumference of up to 66cm/26'' to fit over the head. The face opening of the hood has a circumference of 48cm/19'' flat and can stretch comfortably to 72cm/28.25 to fit around the face when worn as a balaclava.
