**Astragal**
*An astragal is a tapered, ogee shape - often used in traditional plaster work or moulding. This hat features a series of interlocking ogee shapes, each with a central colourwork motif.*
**Yarn**
Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed (70% Wool; 30% Mohair; 100m / 109yds per 25g ball). With the exception of Claire’s version, (see below), 1 ball of each of the following shades:

28 sts and 32 rounds to 10cm / 4in over colourwork on gauge-size needle. Use 3.25mm needles as a starting point for swatching.
**Sizes**
To fit head circumference: 51-55 (56-60) cm / 20-211⁄2 (22-23) in
This hat comes in two sizes, small and medium, with the small size working 6 chart repeats, and the medium size 7. If you would prefer a slouchier fit than the medium size allows, go up a needle size and work at a gauge of 26 sts and 30 rounds to 10cm / 4in.
**Pattern notes**
This hat is worked from the bottom up, beginning with a few rounds of corrugated rib. The body and crown of the hat are knitted following a colourwork chart. Charts are read from right to left throughout.
