It is 25% wool and 75% acrylic yarn, which provides sufficient warmth. In addition to that, wool provides strech and elasticity to the beanie. I would totally recommend wool-acrylic blend or 100% wool yarn for this project, but you can also use acrylic yarn. *Instead of bulky yarn, worsted weight yarn can also be used, holding 2 strands together (provided that you meet the pattern gauge).
