Bouctouche Boardwalk Socks

The vertical and horizontal lines on the front of these socks are inspired by the planks and handrails of the boardwalk over the Bouctouche Dunes, in New Brunswick, Canada. 800 metres of a meandering wooden pathway that takes you over the fragile dunes and grasses. It leads you to a beautiful beach looking out into the Northumberland Strait and on a clear day, a view of Prince Edward Island. I love to pack up my knitting and a picnic and find a quite spot to enjoy the sights and sounds. This is a simple, but engaging texture that gives the sock lots of meditative stockinette with interesting details to keep you going. Written and charted instructions are included. I have included a seperate small PDF file with instructions to modify the pattern to work with self-striping yarn. The sock is knit from the top down with a contrast heel flap and traditional gusset. I finished it with my version of a rounded toe. Small 56 stitch, (Medium 64 stitch, Large 72stitch). 7 (8, 9) inches / 18 (20.25, 23) cm,approximate foot circumference. 1 skein of fingering weight yarn and 15-20g of contrast yarn required.
