Sun-up socks

Classic ribbed socks with a (literal) twist and hidden shaping for a perfect fit. I've always liked the clean look of short row heels but was never a fan of the stretching around the instep - it didn't look like a particularly comfortable fit. So after a little trial and error, I settled on this solution - additional shaping around the instep, with stitch patterns incorporated into the increases and decreases. The Sun-up Socks feature a neat cabled pattern both on the instep and to nip in the back of the ankle. This is the sister pattern to the **[After Hours socks][1]**, which feature the same shaping in a fishnet lace fabric. Use code **SISTERSOCKS** to purchase both patterns together for £7.50 (must add both to basket). **YARN:** 4ply / fingering weight sock yarn, approx. 238 (310) metres / 259 (338) yards. Sample shown in The Fibre Fox Merino Sock in shade Merryweather. **GAUGE:** 32 sts and 46 rows to 4 inches / 10 cm in stocking stitch, blocked. Suggested needle size 2.5mm. **NEEDLES:** 2.5mm needles of your preferred length for working small circumferences in the round, eg. DPNs, magic loop, short circulars.
