Sloping Hills | Sanfte Hügel

Knitted in cosy DK (8ply) yarn, the Sloping Hills socks are a quick knit and have the addition of purl stitches to create texture and interest in the pattern.  The purl "slopes" are easy to follow in both written and charted instructions, and the pattern is repeated on the front and the back of the socks. They have a heel flap and gusset; the heel flap is created with slip stitches to give a comfortable, cushioned heel.  The pattern is written for four sizes from 8 - 9½ inches (20-24cm) foot circumference. **November 2025**: this pattern has been released as a single PDF by Winwick Mum. This version is written in Winwick Mum house style so is different to the version in the Sock Knitting Bible but you still get the same pair of socks **Yarn** Baa Brighouse Baa Baa Brew; 100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool; 225m (244 yards) per 100g (3.5oz) skein 1 skein in Strangstry This yarn is a DK (8ply) weight yarn, so any similar weight yarn would work well **Needles** 3.5mm (US4) needles for your preferred method of knitting in the round If using a short circular needle, you will also need a set of DPNs in the same size for the cast on, heels and toes 4mm (US6) DPNs, optional for a looser cast on **Extras** Tape measure or ruler; stitch markers; stitch holder (optional); tapestry/yarn needle (for weaving in ends); sock blockers (optional), towel and wool wash for blocking
