Mouse in a Suitcase

This pattern is for an opening suitcase as well as a mouse to live inside it with all the necessary outfits and accessories! The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. The pattern has been independently tested prior to publication. **You will need:** Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK yarn for the majority of my project (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished suitcase measures approximately 16cm long and 13cm tall. Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn to make both your suitcase and the mouse & the accessories to ensure that they will fit. **You will need the following colours:** Main mouse colour - I used pale grey (approx. 23.5m). Nose / ears / feet / tail colour - I used pale pink (approx. 13m). Suitcase outer colour - I used beige (approx. 147m). Suitcase inner colour - I used pale yellow (approx. 138m). Case handles / fasteners colour - I used dark brown (approx. 5.5m). Blanket / pillow / robe & slippers colour - I used white (approx. 73.5m). T-shirt colour - I used pale green (approx. 8.5m). Dress colour - I used red (approx. 20m). Cheese colour - I used dark yellow (approx. 2m). Please note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice. **You will also need:** A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook. A pair of 6mm black safety eyes. Some toy stuffing. Some finer yarn or thread for adding the details to the mouse’s face and to the luggage tags. I used black, red & blue. ‘7 count’ plastic canvas. I had a 26cm x 33cm sheet (that’s 10.25 x 13.5 inches) & I used less than 1 sheet. A higher count (that’s the number of holes per inch) will mean the plastic is more bendy so stick to 7 count if possible. 2 small buttons for the clothes (and a needle and thread with which to attach them). 2 medium buttons for the suitcase (and a needle and thread with which to attach them). A press stud / snap fastener if you would like the mouse to be able to hold the cheese (although this is optional). I used a 7mm clear plastic press stud (sourced on amazon). Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers. **You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
