**The Days to Come** blanket knitting pattern is easy to knit with worsted, heavy worsted or Aran weight yarn. The blanket features an 12-row repeat stitch pattern that creates a reversible, geometric design. *The repeating geometric squares in this stitch pattern remind me of the blank pages of my new month-by-month paper calendar.  As I opened the page to the new year, I wrote down the events that we are looking forward to this year. DIRECTIONS FOR SIX BLANKET SIZES: Approximate sizes after blocking… Baby Blanket: 26” wide x 30” long Small Blanket: 28” wide x 34” long Medium Blanket: 31” wide x 38” long Large Throw: 36.5” wide x 44” long XL Throw: 41” wide x 48” long XXL Afghan: 46.5” wide x 54” long Finished size may vary depending on yarn weight and gauge used. Any of the sizes may be made longer by adding pattern repeats. Each pattern repeat adds about 2” to the length of the blanket. Pattern includes estimates for additional yardage needed to make each size longer. WORSTED / HEAVY WORSTED #4 WEIGHT YARN: Baby: 610 - 630 yards Small: 720 - 750 yards Medium: 910 - 950 yards Large: 1230 - 1280 yards XL: 1500 - 1600 yards XXL: 1950 - 2050 yards Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to add length to your project. I used Blue Sky Fibers ‘Sweater’ heavy worsted yarn in the ‘Powder Puff’ colorway. Stitch pattern looks attractive with solid color yarns, as well as gently variegated, hand dyed colorways. The pattern may also be used with slightly lighter or heavier weight yarns. GAUGE: Pattern stitch with US size 8 needles: approximately 18 stitches & 24 rows = 4” Exact gauge is not essential. This stitch pattern looks best with fairly tight stitches. I used US size 8 knitting needles. Choose the needle size that gives the best appearance with your yarn and your knitting tension. NEEDLES: Blanket knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on circular knitting needles in order to accommodate the large number of stitches.
