Spring (The Valley Comes Alive)

These Spring inspired socks feature a mountain landscape with pink spring trees and crops (strawberries, parsnips, blue jazz and tulips.) These socks are knit cuff-down and the pattern includes 4 sizes. There is stranded colorwork all over the leg and foot, a short row heel, and a toe finished with grafting. Note that there are a few rounds where you’ll need to hold 3 colors at once. You can choose to add the 3rd color after the sock is finished using duplicate stitch. **Yarn Note**: I used Palette because because I found the vibrant colors to be the closest match to the game aesthetic out of the yarns I compared, plus this non-superwash yarn is also a great fit for intense colorwork patterns like this one. Since it is a sticky yarn, the strands grab onto each other and bloom together well after blocking, resulting in a beautiful colorwork fabric. If you choose to use Palette, please note I intended these socks to be cozy house socks to be worn gently - though to be honest I have these displayed on my wall instead of wearing them at all! If you plan to instead heavily wear your socks, you might want to substitute a yarn that contains nylon so that your socks are more durable. A wool/silk blend would also be a great option if you prefer to stick with natural fibers. Since Palette is a wooly yarn with a lot of air, it creates a larger and thicker sock than the typical thinner sock yarns. So if you substitute yarn, I highly recommend going up one or two needle sizes AND sock sizes, so that your sock does not end up too small. You could also easily substitute yarn only for the solid color heels and toes, which get the most wear and tear, and use Palette for the colorwork. Many yarns are used for more than one season, so keep this in mind if you decide to substitute.
