Amigurumi Axolotl

This little amigurumi Axolotl is crocheted with DK Weight Yarn, but you can easily make this in any yarn and hook combination you like (or have on hand). If you are making it with Medium Weight Yarn, try using a 4 mm (G) hook. To celebrate the launch of Part 1 of the Minecraft Cliffs and Caves update, I crocheted this friendly little Axolotl for my Minecraft addicted daughter. She's been playing Minecraft since she was 4 and I am always amazed by how she can envision and build her worlds. She is beyond excited about the cliffs and caves, especially for the Axolotls that have been spawning all over the place. Her birthday is next week so I thought she might still like a handmade from her Mom (she's turning 12). Fingers crossed! This little amigurumi Axolotl is crocheted with DK Weight Yarn, but you can easily make this in any yarn and hook combination you like (or have on hand). If you are making it with Medium Weight Yarn, try using a 4 mm (G) hook. It's body is crocheted in one piece from the nose to the tail and we sew the 4 legs on afterwards. The external lungs are crocheted directly onto the axolotl in the remaining front loops we leave in Round 9. When you are adding the eyes be sure to pay attention to where those remaining loops are because you want the eyes to be on the same side (there is a note in the pattern and some images to help you with this).
