The inspiration for this design began with a beautiful yarn. As soon as I saw this amazing colour, I knew it had to become a pair of socks. The stitch pattern seemed to emerge organically from my mind, but as I looked at it, I was reminded of our very favourite picnic spot. Moss Eccles Tarn lies above the village of Near Sawrey in the Lake District, and was much loved by Beatrix Potter. The character of Jeremy Fisher was created following her visits here, and you can easily see him in your minds eye, hopping around the lily pads. The lace pattern made me think of the ducks flying down to the tarn, and the ripples they make as they land. **Sock Details** The socks feature lace panels that are separated by bands of garter stitch. I used a traditional heel flap and gusset, with my Umbrella Toe.This is an engaging, yet relaxed design - perfect for summer knitting. **Sizes** The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64 sts) and Large (72 sts). The lace pattern is both written and charted. Instructions are written for the magic loop method, but other methods can of course be used. **Yarn** The pattern sample pair of socks are knitted using Eden Cottage Yarns on their Rosedale 4ply base. The shade I used is 'Algae'.
